 Custom DesignCrete has been bringing architectural concrete to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area homes and businesses since 1997. As a third generation concrete contractor, founder and owner Domenic Mattei Jr. began Custom DesignCrete after working for his family's Pittsburgh contracting company, Aspen  Concrete Construction. Since the age of 13, Domenic has been pouring concrete and carrying on the tradition of the family business, started originally in 1923 by his grandfather Amedio Mattei. Every job is personally installed by Domenic. Other personnel are hired as needed, but all jobs are prepped, poured, and finished by Domenic. Bringing the old world craftsmanship that his Grandfather brought over from Italy back into the concrete business. This combination of experience, attention to detail and personal accountability make Custom DesignCrete unique in this field. Domenic holds two American Concrete Institute certifications: Flatwork Finisher Technician, and Field Testing Technician Grade One, in addition to certifications from the Decorative Concrete Institute and World of Concrete. He is also a 10-year active member of his local Cement Mason's Union. Domenic is a graduate of St. Vincent College.
