Why Choose Custom
DesignCrete
In recent years there has been an explosion in the
decorative concrete market and there are a number of contractors out
there offering decorative concrete at cut rate prices. New
contractors are getting into the industry everyday , some after
attending only a weekend seminar. There are several factors to
consider when choosing a contractor including price, but the number
one criterion should be experience. Anyone can underbid another's
prices in order to secure a job, but what is the customer really
getting for less money? Most likely they will get inferior
craftsmanship and a substandard job, sometimes with disastrous
consequences. A contractor who has only recently gotten into the
market can not hope to produce the same high quality work as a
highly experienced one. Likewise a particular company that has been
in business for a long time does not necessarily have experienced
installation personnel.
Since Custom DesignCrete's inception in
the 90's, every single job is personally planned, prepped, poured
and finished by the company's owner Domenic Mattei. Other personnel
are hired as needed but all jobs are done personally by Domenic. In
addition all jobs are estimated and bid by Domenic so there is no
miscommunication between the office and the field personnel. In
today's market this combination of experience, attention to detail
and personal accountability truly make Custom DesignCrete a cut
above the rest!
All contractors are not equal, a little research can pay big
dividends. Make sure your contractor is
-
ACI-Certified
-
Insured
-
Experienced
Ask to view their work
-
Ask Questions, if there is a
large gap in quotes ask yourself(and the contractor) why is one so
cheap and the other more expensive? What is the design being used?
How thick is the pour? What type of reinforcement is being
used? How long has the company been installing concrete? Is this
their main area of expertise? Then compare what you are getting
for your money. If a contractor is offering you the deal of
the century it probably isn't such a deal. Most often you get
what you pay for.
-
Check the weather. Concrete
should not be poured when it is raining, or extremely cold.
A quality contractor will not ignore these facts.
-
When comparing pavers take
into consideration concrete installations have no individual unit
that might shift or settle creating a tripping hazard or spaces
where weeds or bugs can live.
-
Concrete Cracks- there is no
getting around it, to install it properly it should have control
joints, Fiber Reinforcement, reinforcing rods or wire mesh, and
proper preparation of subbase. PSI of 3500-4000 design mix. The
type of concrete and the way it is designed and installed is
important to the success of the installation and with proper
precautions, you can minimize and frequently eliminate concrete
cracking.

We are selling Quality not quantity and
we will not compromise our work by installing at a cut rate
price , therefore having to cut corners, the quality of
our materials and the quality of our work. We double
reinforce all of our concrete for strength and durability. We
do not price our projects by the square foot like many other
companies. We pride ourselves on providing each client with a custom
project. Due to the uniqueness of each site, access, and
client each project is designed and estimated on an individual
basis.
For common questions and answers please
visit our FAQ's page.
We also have some project minimums,
please feel free to call and discuss your project with
us.
As the complexity of the project
increases so does the price per square foot. For example, access to
the work site, multiple colors, borders, steps and radius edges
require additional time and labor and thus increase overall cost.
The final price is very project specific.
Each job is as individual as its
owner
Please note : Our minimum job size is 300 sq ft for
decorative flatwork
